Paths of Peace has been making and installing labyrinths, both portable and permanent, since 1999.
Permanent labyrinth installations are available in both precise replicas of historical designs such as the Chartres cathedral labyrinth, and unique contemporary designs. Paths of Peace offers site visits, consultation, labyrinth layout service and full installation. Permanent labyrinths can be interior or exterior projects. Determining the best design for each setting is a specialty of Paths of Peace that is informed by over twenty years of labyrinth research, design, and building expertise. Whether you are seeking a detailed replica of a medieval labyrinth or have an idea for a new design or use, Paths of Peace will work closely with you to assure the final product is well balanced, ideally oriented and fits appropriately within the intended setting.
Consultations
Paths of Peace offers expert consultation and advice for labyrinth projects, including construction techniques, size, design, placement, and orientation to determine the best labyrinth for each client’s unique needs. On-site consultations are the best way to allow accurate measurements, elevation determination, appropriate access, and feasibility consideration. When a site visit is not possible, consultations can be done by phone or video conferencing, as well as email communication and use of satellite imagery when possible.
Budget, materials, accessibility, maintenance, and environment are just a few of the important considerations that are included in planning discussions regarding a new labyrinth project. Paths of Peace provides expert consultation to other professionals planning to incorporate a labyrinth project.
Installations
Paths of Peace installs labyrinths of all kinds, both indoor and outdoor permanent installations; as well as temporary labyrinths for an event or activity. Advising and collaborating with architects, landscape designers and building maintenance professionals is a way to answer questions and find solutions for a labyrinth project.
Indoor Installations
Indoor installations include labyrinths painted on carpet, wood, or other floor surfaces. Paths of Peace also has partnerships with flooring companies for inlaid designs.
Outdoor Installations
Outdoor installations can be as simple as mowed prairie grasses or extensive as concrete designs. With over twenty years of labyrinth building experience, Paths of Peace has made hundreds of labyrinths in places as far away as Africa and Australia to the Yukon Territory and across the USA. Paths of Peace has installed permanent labyrinths in apartment and corporate business complexes, churches, hospitals, city parks, private gardens, retreat centers, schools and universities, rehabilitation facilities, retirement communities, art centers and sculpture park settings, bed and breakfast locations, and more.
VOLUNTEER GROUP INSTALLATIONS
Paths of Peace also specializes in working with volunteer groups. A group labyrinth installation is a fun and exciting way to build a labyrinth that educates, build community, and results in a sense of ownership and increased use. You provide the labor and Paths of Peace provides the expertise, tools, instruction and supervision. Whether the labyrinth is stones on the ground or pavers embedded into turf or compacted granite gravel, in just a few hours your new labyrinth will be completed and ready for use. Paths of Peace can also assist in ceremonies for blessing or dedicating the new labyrinth, as well as educational presentations on the history and use of labyrinths.
Temporary Installations
Temporary labyrinths are typically made for a specific event such as a food shelf collection, wedding ceremony, birthday party, weekend retreat, a book drive, or a community festival. Some samples of materials are ribbon, flowers, shoes, food shelf donations, pumpkins, raked leaves, holiday lights, pine needles, hay bales, sand, sawdust, surveyor flags and tape, landscape chalk and marking paint.
